Per Berglund is Professor of Biochemistry at Division of Industrial Biotechnology at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden. Professor Berglund originates from Sundsvall, Sweden, where he studied Chemistry and obtained his PhD in Organic Chemistry from Mid Sweden University in 1995. He then moved to University of Toronto, Canada, for a postdoc with Prof. J. Bryan Jones. Per returned to Sweden in 1997 and started at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, where he became Docent in Organic Chemistry and then Associate Professor in Biochemistry 2002 and finally Full Professor in Biochemistry 2009. His research interests include stereoselective biocatalysis and enzyme engineering and his group now focuses on transaminases in cascade reactions. In 2010, Prof. Berglund was elected Vice Dean of KTH and has since then been responsible for the bachelor, master and PhD-level education at KTH.

Teaching: Responsible for the annual master-level course Biocatalysis BB2460 and the PhD-level courses Enzymatic Synthesis 3A5110  and Current Topics in Biocatalysis I , II , III and IV .
